General Questions
1. What are the numbers in the Divisions and Sections?
The numbers in the Divisions and Sections are based on the CSI MasterFormat™ 2004 Edition: Numbers and Titles master list*. These numbers are used to organize building products and materials in construction specifications and according to industry accepted general terms. The Divisions and Sections titles have been modified in some cases in order to apply the list to a wide variety of industry terms for sustainable products and materials.
2. Why don’t I see hvac units, building automation systems and other energy efficient equipment?
The focus of mr.greenpoints is on products that contain one of the following attributes: certified wood (CW), low-emitting (LE), reclaimed material (RM), recycled content (RC), rapidly renewable content (RR) or have an ID certification (ID). This focus allows us to be extremely comprehensive in the product listings. If it exists, we list it. If you know of a product that you don’t see let us know. Keep in mind that many of these products can contribute toward other credits/points as well. For example: erosion control devices that contain rapidly renewable material will also likely contribute toward sustainable site credits.
3. What about false claims and greenwashing?
Mr.greenpoints utilizes information publicly supplied on manufacturers websites to categorize products with stated attributes. However, where it exists, the stated attributes are backed up with a certification from an outside party that has verified that the product indeed contains the attributes. This distinction allows you, the user, to decide what value you place on claims for product A (certified) versus product B (non-certified) and can help guide your selection process.
4. My search results say “Nothing found”. Why?
Keep in mind that with six attributes and almost 300 product sections, there are literally thousands of potential combinations. Not all combinations will yield results. For example, searching for concrete block with certified wood will yield no results. Also note that there may be products that match your criteria, but that they may not be manufactured within your specified distance to your project site. Try leaving the mileage/zip code fields blank – by doing so you can see all products that fit your criteria regardless of manufacturing location.
