Certified Wood
Search Attribute Abbreviation = CW. If properly managed, the world’s forests can provide a steady stream of wood, a natural and renewable material. However, these natural treasures are under constant pressure from increasing demands for raw materials and they must be protected. Organizations such as the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certify that forestry is sustainably managed and that all parts of the supply chain for wood and wood products adhere to established rules and standards.
Note that although wood products identified as “FSC Recycled” (FSC-R) in the Certifications column are categorized as having a CW attribute on mr.greenpoints, they may not count as certified wood in your green building rating system. However, these products may contribute toward other credits. Check with your system’s requirements to determine how to classify this material in your documentation.
